Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (KINFRA) participated in the Expression of Interest called for by Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MOFPI), Govt. of India in February 2014 and had submitted a proposal to MOFPI to set up KINFRA Mega Food Park at Palakkad.
KINFRA’s EOI proposal was given ‘In-Principle Approval’ by MOFPI vide its letter F.No:M-11013/4/2015-Mega Food Park Division dated 31.03.2015. Accordingly KINFRA had submitted the Detailed Project Report along with supporting documents as per MFPS guidelines. The MOFPI issued its ‘Final Approval’ in favour of KINFRA’s proposal vide its letter F.No:M-11013/4/2015-Mega Food Park Division dated 27.11.2015.
The approved project cost as per the final approval on 27.11.2015 for KINFRA Mega Food Park is Rs 119.02 crores with a grant-in-aid support of Rs 50.00 crores.
National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has sanctioned a Term Loan for an amount of Rs 28.34 crores to set up KINFRA Mega Food Park on 27.10.2015.
The construction of the park has been completed. The park was inaugurated by Hon'ble Chief Minister and Hon'ble Minister of Food Processing Industry, GoI on 01.10.2020
